5 Books I Want to Read for Mother's Day

5 Books I Want to Read for Mother's Day

To start with, HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all the great moms out there! I salute you for being the best human being in this planet!

And since it's a special day, I would like to share to you the list of five books I would like to read in celebration of Mother's Day. You know it, that's how we roll. Going out to shop, watching movies or dining out is so overrated, or maybe it's just me.

Alright chicas, here's the 'Five Books I would like to Read for Mother's Day'!
(There's no particular order)

Nobody's Baby but Mine by Susan Elizabeth Phillips

Genius physics professor Dr. Jane Darlington desperately wants a baby, but finding a father won’t be easy. Growing up, Jane’s super intelligence made her feel like a freak, and she’s determined to spare her own child that suffering. Which means she must find someone very special to father her child. Someone very…well..stupid. Cal Bonner, the Chicago Stars’ legendary quarterback, seems like the perfect choice. Unfortunately, this good ol’ boy is a lot smarter than he lets on, and he’s not about to be used by a brainy, baby-mad schemer.

♥♥♥ Now, I must admit that this wouldn't be the first time I would be reading this book (more like this would be the third time). You can't blame me though, Susan Elizabeth Phillips is a genius, I swear! This book is funny and heart tugging, I am sure you will enjoy this. I did.

Read it now!

The Mother-Daughter Book Club by Heather Vogel Frederick

The book club
is about to get
a makeover....

Even if Megan would rather be at the mall, Cassidy is late for hockey practice, Emma's already read every book in existence, and Jess is missing her mother too much to care, the new book club is scheduled to meet every month.

But what begins as a mom-imposed ritual of reading Little Women soon helps four unlikely friends navigate the drama of middle school. From stolen journals, to secret crushes, to a fashion-fiasco first dance, the girls are up to their Wellie boots in drama. They can't help but wonder: What would Jo March do?

♥♥♥ A book club, teenagers and moms. Perfect combination for Mother's day!

The Mothers by Jennifer Gilmore

Poignant, raw, and insightful, Jennifer Gilmore’s third novel is an unforgettable story of love, family, and motherhood. With a “voice [that is] at turns wise and barbed with sharp humor” (Vanity Fair), Gilmore lays bare the story of one couple’s ardent desire for a child and their emotional journey through adoption.

Jesse and Ramon are a loving couple, but after years spent unsuccessfully trying to get pregnant, they turn to adoption, relieved to think that once they navigate the bureaucratic path to parent-hood they will have a happy ending. But nothing has prepared them for the labyrinthine process—for the many training sessions and approvals; for the constant advice from friends, strangers, and “experts”; for the birthmothers who contact them but don’t ultimately choose them; or even, most shockingly, for the women who call claiming they’ve chosen Jesse and Ramon but who turn out never to have been pregnant in the first place.

Jennifer Gilmore’s eloquence about the human heart—its frailties and complexities—and her razor-sharp observations about race, class, culture, and changing family dynamics are spectacularly combined in this powerful novel. Suffused with passion and fury, The Mothers is a taut, gripping, and satisfying book that will stay with readers long after they turn the last page.

♥♥♥ To be honest, I am most excited to read this one. This sounds more like my cup of tea!

Cheating to Survive by Christine Ardigo

Hate your boss? Want to Strangle Your Husband? Be Glad Your Co-Workers Can Keep a Secret.

Can Cheating on Your Husband Bring Unimaginable Pleasure or Completely Destroy Your World?

To her three daughters, Heather is a fun-loving, silly mom. Her co-workers at Norlyn Plains Hospital think she has it all, including a handsome lawyer husband.

But when a flirtatious new doctor chooses Heather to spend his down time with, he reminds her of the man she regrettably gave up so many years before. Each interaction breathes new life into her and she gives in to the doctor’s seductions, threatening her fifteen year marriage.

Her co-workers Victoria and Catherine, are stunned by her actions, but when they see the positive transformation in Heather, and question their own crumbling marriages, they wonder if she has the right idea.

Can cheating on their husbands bring the three of them happiness? Or will they be destroyed by the consequences?

♥♥♥ I think this would be a great read. Presenting realities of a not so happy marriage and the circumstances given to Heather, I am looking forward into learning something out of it.

Secret Daughter by Shilpi Somaya Gowda

On the eve of the monsoons, in a remote Indian village, Kavita gives birth to a baby girl. But in a culture that favors sons, the only way for Kavita to save her newborn daughter's life is to give her away. It is a decision that will haunt her and her husband for the rest of their lives, even after the arrival of their cherished son.

Halfway around the globe, Somer, an American doctor, decides to adopt a child after making the wrenching discovery that she will never have one of her own. When she and her husband, Krishnan, see a photo of the baby with the gold-flecked eyes from a Mumbai orphanage, they are overwhelmed with emotion. Somer knows life will change with the adoption but is convinced that the love they already feel will overcome all obstacles.

Interweaving the stories of Kavita, Somer, and the child that binds both of their destinies, Secret Daughter poignantly explores the emotional terrain of motherhood, loss, identity, and love, as witnessed through the lives of two families—one Indian, one American—and the child that indelibly connects them.
